Born and raised in Whatcom County, WA, Doug was identified as having ability to play by ear and transpose what he played into any other key around age 12 when taking piano lessons from Joan Biasini in Bellingham, WA during the 1985-86 school year. Active in the school choirs during middle school and high school, and then a decade later at Seattle University during his 2nd college stint in 1998-1999 with Dr. Joy Sherman as director. A longstanding dream was to get a synthesizer with a sequencer built in so that being able to set down music in its memory would be a catalyst for ever-increasing complexity of output. This was achieved with the acquisition of the Roland FA-08 synthesizer in 2018. Five years later Doug started putting his music privately on SoundCloud in late December 2022, moving to going public on 1/24/2023, and then started using DistroKid to move to other platforms in May of that year. Doug specializes in a sort of fusion of classical and jazz but his almost daily composition output ranges to other genres depending on his energy level and mood.
